Course Overview

The Certificate III in Community Services is designed to develop a broad range of competencies and skills. This qualification will prepare you to work in a range of community service roles such as Aged Care, Disability, Youth Work and others. It prepares you for case management, individual needs planning, health and well-being strategies, working with disabilities, cultural diversity, and working with at-risk individuals. The Certificate III in Community Services also incorporates a work experience element that will enable you to put into practice the theory and skills you will learn. Qualification Level Certificate III
Pre-requisites / Entry Conditions Over 15 years old, not attending secondary school. Must also complete a language, literacy and numeracy test
Nominal Duration 15 weeks incl. vocational placement (course length may be adjusted depending upon student progression/needs)
Attendance 2 - 3 days per week
Assessment Methods Short Answer Questions, Case Studies, Role Plays, Projects, Skills Observations, Vocational Placement
Delivery Method Face to Face learning + vocational placement

Vocational Placement Minimum 20 hours vocational placement required at a relevant workplace. Placement may be voluntary work or paid employment in a relevant role. Students are required to obtain the site-specific clearances to participate in Vocational Placement, this may include Disability clearance, Working with children check or police checks
WORKPLACE

Qualification Level Certificate III
Pre-requisites / Entry Conditions Existing or new worker in the industry. Over 17 years old, not attending secondary school. Must complete a language, literacy and numeracy test.

Delivery Method Online learning + workplace
Course Materials All course materials are included
Vocational Placement Students need to obtain experience in a relevant workplace and satisfactorily demonstrate a series of skills. The minimum number of hours required as part of this placement is 20. Placement may be voluntary work or paid employment in a relevant role. Students are required to obtain the site-specific clearances to participate in Vocational Placement, this may include Disability clearance, Working with children check or police checks.
STRUCTURED ONLINE

Qualification Level Certificate III
Pre-requisites / Entry Conditions Over 15 years old, not attending secondary school. Must also complete a language, literacy and numeracy test
Nominal Duration 15 weeks incl. vocational placement (course length may be adjusted depending upon student progression/needs)
Attendance 2 - 3 zoom sessions per week. Zoom sessions will occur during business hours. Usually after midday. Students are required to complete online theory assessments in addition to the zoom sessions.

Delivery Method All theory is completed online. To assist with the learning, students are required to attend online live zoom sessions each week. Vocational placement is undertaken once all of the theory has been completed unless the student is already working in the industry.

Resources Required Students must have their own access to computer and internat to access the course materials. Students are also need a webcam, camera or other recording device to be able to record role plays
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Pre-requisites / Entry Conditions Must be an International Student on a student visa (subclass 500). IELTS 5.5 or equivalent English language test result or the completion of 12-week Strategix IELTS Preparation program. Yr 12 equivalent (High School Graduate Certificate)
