About the training

The Lower Fees, Local Skills program provides eligible Western Australia residents with an opportunity to access subsidised by the Western Australian Government.

Subsidised training

Through the Lower Fees, Local Skills funding, individuals are required to pay a reduced co-contribution fee to gain access to the government subsidy. Concession rates may apply for eligible individuals.


You may be eligible to access funding through the Lower Fees, Local Skills program if you meet all the following requirements:

* Students may have one of the following:

  1. A training contract registered in Western Australia; and
  2. A Western Australian workplace address; and
  3. The training is undertaken in Western Australia, if available
** Not available to residents of Christmas Island or Cocos Island, however the following approved Visa subclasses are to be treated as Australian residents:
  • Holders of a sub-class 309, 444, 785, 790, 820 or 826 visa
  • Secondary holders of a temporary visa of sub-class 457; and
  • Holders of a bridging visa e (subclasses 050 and 051) where the visa holder has made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790
*** Students U18yrs must have a DOE Notice of Arrangement.
