Course Overview
The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is designed to develop a range of competencies and skills. The demand for early childhood educators is increasing. Learn the skills and gain knowledge to provide a positive environment and facilitate children’s play and learning. Through the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, you will be equipped for a position as a child care worker or educator. This Certificate also incorporates a work experience element so you will get to put into practice the theory and skills you learn. Increase your skills in the areas of:
- Caring for children, babies and toddlers
- Supporting holistic development
- Providing first aid
- Working within legal and ethical frameworks
- Identifying and responding to children at risk
- Nutrition for children
- Supporting play and learning
- Supporting behaviour of children

QLD CAMPUS

| Pre-requisites / Entry Conditions | Over 17 years old, not attending secondary school. Must also complete a language, literacy and numeracy test |
| Nominal Duration | 15 weeks face to face + 6 weeks vocational placement |
| Attendance | 2 - 3 days per week |
| Assessment Methods | Short answer questions, case studies, role plays, projects, skills observations, vocational placement |
| Delivery Method | Face to face learning + vocational placement |
| Course Materials | All course materials are included |
| Vocational Placement | Minimum 160 hours vocational placement required at a relevant workplace. Placement may be voluntary work or paid employment in a relevant role. Students must be able to pass a working with children check. Some organisations may also request a police check and require workers to be fully vaccinated. Some VP tasks need to be directly observed by a Strategix assessor whilst in the workplace. Placement needs to be undertaken within the Brisbane and Gold Coast regions to enable a Strategix assessor to attend. |
