What you will study

You’ll deepen practice from educator to leader—translating approved frameworks into rich, play-based programs that nurture identity, wellbeing, and inclusion. Through observation and assessment, you plan next steps, document learning, and partner with families and professionals. You embed safety and child protection, coach colleagues, and drive quality improvement aligned to the National Quality Standard.

Necessary documents:

You’ll need to provide valid photo ID (such as a driver’s licence or passport), your Medicare card, and any relevant education or qualification documents.

If you’re applying for government funding, additional documentation may be required. Our team will guide you through what’s needed.

You also need to demonstrate:
  • A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
  • Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check (and relevant clearances)
  • Language, literacy and numeracy suitable for vocational study and workplace communication
  • Up-to-date immunisations may be required by some services
Work placement:
  • A supervised vocational placement in an approved early childhood service helps you consolidate skills, build your resume, and make industry connections. You’ll apply theory in practice, from program planning to day-to-day care routines. The minimum number of placement hours required is 280 hours. Placement can be completed in voluntary or paid positions within registered Early Childhood centres.
Pre-requisites:

Before commencing this qualification, students must meet one of the following pre-requisites

  • CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care OR
  • CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

Alternatively, individuals may hold:

  • An Australian diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care OR
  • Hold the CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care OR
  • An Australian diploma or certificate III in Children’s Services AND
  • Demonstrate at least 12 months of cumulative employment (full-time equivalent) within the last 5 years in a regulated education and care service in Australia, supported by verifiable evidence.
